Types of volcanoes
Volcanoes
Volcanoes are basically mountain ranges that have lava inside them. All volcanoes have and opening at the top called the vent, this is what the lava comes out of, however a composite volcano can have the vent located on the side of the volcano. When the volcano erupts and releases the lava soon after the lava will dry forming the earth's surface. Some volcanoes are dormant, this means that the volcano has not erupted in a very long time but is still active and could erupt anytime, another way of saying it is that the volcano has fallen into a deep sleep and could wake up at any moment. When a volcano is extinct it means that they will not erupt any more any time at all, they have completely shut down and will not start up again.
